C2R2 Partner Institutions Receive 2024 Hydrogen Digital Innovator Award

Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2) is thrilled to share that Mohawk College, SAIT, Nova Scotia Community College, Holland College, and Lambton College received the 2024 Hydrogen Digital Innovator Award at the April 24 Canadian Hydrogen Convention in Edmonton, Canada.

The institutions collaborated on the creation and delivery of the Hydrogen Awareness and Understanding for Process-Related Occupations microcredential and Entry-Level Technical Applications in Hydrogen for Process Occupations microcredential that were offered through Quick Train Canada.   The microcredentials supported over 100 learners in the two courses.

During the awards gala, it was noted that as the energy sector examines the role that hydrogen plays as a tool to decarbonize global energy supplies, hydrogen awareness and training are a requisite to enable strategy, infrastructure development, and workforce upskilling – areas which are pivotal to C2R2’s mission, values, and goals.

The two microcredentials, co-developed by these five institutions, were first offered as an innovative digital education product, and are now launching through a web-based Learning Management System (LMS). This change will offer broader workforce upskilling to support learning and professional development to a pan-Canadian network of industry professionals and the continued online format ensure these microcredentials will serve as vital tools for professionals looking to stay ahead in the dynamic energy landscape.

Receiving this award speaks volumes to the unique position colleges across Canada have in quickly developing curriculum that meets the needs of the Canadian economy, and the interest and ability for Canadian colleges to work together to create curriculum that is relevant to communities coast to coast to coast. These microcredentials in particular were an amazing collaboration between C2R2’s partner institutions, as a Coalition, C2R2 is proud to have played a role in supporting their development.

Congratulations to Mohawk College, SAIT, Nova Scotia Community College, Holland College, and Lambton College in receiving this prestigious award!
